It was Sunday, 6.15am, I started the engine and went to Sitiawan, Tian Siang auto service centre to be exact. I lined up together with other runners, who were mostly Chinese, and most of them were gila muda tapi aku tak peduli. Ahso and Ahpak also were many, but Pakcik, Makcik macam aku sangat boleh dibilang dengan jari. Rasanya kategori melayu tradisional pempuan adalah kurang dari 5. Eh, tadi cerita pasal lining up. For what? To get the running bib and the t-shirt. I jokingly asked the regular girls at Honda service centre, can I change my t-shirt here...She said can....haha..
Warming up session, takde apa yang menarik. Nobody lead the warm up session. Pandai-pandai kau sendiri la labu nak warm up cemana pun. The below 40 category wearing blue t-shirt, while above 40 category wearing yellow t-shirt (warga emas la katakan), The blue category released first, followed by us. The DJ who released us siap cakap, "Aunty, Uncle, don't pengsan ok". Harap-harap aku tak pengsan atau terseliuh atau terserempak dengan anjing kat tepi jalan. Ok...selalu yang aku tak nak tu la yang jadi.
The first 3km was a breeze. Going through Padang Astaka, went out at BHP petrol. Going straight to Sime Darby guava plantation. I followed this Honda cleaner. Aku dah perasan, dia mesti nak berada kat depan aku. Kalau aku potong dia, tak lama dia potong aku balik. Pastu dia start jalan, aku potong dia balik, then dia akan potong semula. The first water station, I took up the power gel, expecting the next 3 km going to be a bit difficult in view of ascending route (macam sikit berbukit le). Aku dah perasan cleaner tu tadi tak minum air pon. At the Sime Darby plantation, I followed this Honda cleaner close by. Sekejap aku potong, sekejap dia potong aku balik. Aku tau, dia ni mesti tak nak kasi can dengan aku. Lagiiii...perangai macam ni aku tak boleh blah. At the second water station, the first 5km, I ran together with the drink in hand, without pandang belakang aku terus menonong ke depan. Haaa...lantak kau la cleaner. Tiba lah saat mencemaskan di mana aku ternampak objek berbulu 2 ekor sedang kung kung kung tepi jalan. I waved to the honda staff patrol (in car), and they stopped at the roadside for the sake of my safety. At the same time, there was this Chinese man who also stopped at the spot where the 2 berbulu dogs were standing. Aku jalan as usual. Passed the dogs, together with the Chinese man, we ran together. I asked him his age. He is 50. I told him my age, and he said I was doing very well. Ye lah tu. Aku lagi respek lagi Uncle ni umur 50 boleh lari laju.
The last water station, at the road junction (9th km), the Uncle was running strong, ahead of me. We reached the last km together, and we shook our hands. Aku tak tau uncle ni was some sort of VVIP until I saw some of the Honda service mechanics came and took pictures together with him. And I saw him again during the prize giving ceremonies. Laaa.....hebat Uncle ni. Nasib baik aku tak tanya dia drive kereta apa...kalau tak buat malu aku je..
I must say that the event was poorly organised, in terms of giving the t-shirt and bib distribution on the running day itself. And the categories were divided unequally!! Cer ko bayangkan, kategori A- nombor 1-10 je dapat medal, kategori B- nombor 1 -10 jugak dapat medal, regardless of whether you're lenglui or lengchai. Cisss....dah la kategori aku (B) ramai navy lelaki yang berlari macam pelesit, ko expect aku nak kalahkan depa? Sungguh tidak aci kepada kaum wanita ok. Then the fact that breakfast was not provided. The rest (number 11 and above) were not given any attention. Huhuh....penat tau lari 10km. Anyway, it had given me some opportunity to run back-to-back, as well as practice my english conversation with some uncle and aunties... yang lain...hanya memenatkan urat kaki aku je. Takpe, aku pasrah..
